Where did these lists come from?

A guy named Steven Antonoff thought this up. He's an educational consultant from Denver, Colorado, and he compiled the lists in a book, The College Finder. Steve was the Dean of Students and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at the University of Denver. He is now a certified educational planner and has worked with over 3,000 students. We teamed up with Steve to publish the book and from those lists we built the website. But, these are just the start, we plan to add many more lists!

What kind of lists will I find on the site?

You're going to find three types of lists…

  • Facts & Stats Lists–Some lists are just facts and they're based on research and data. Most of the data comes from our Wintergreen Orchard House division.
  • Expert's Choice Lists–These lists are from the opinions of many experts from the field of education.
  • User-generated Lists–These are lists generated by our users through polls and surveys, so that's current college students and lots of alumni talking about the schools they know best.

Who are these "experts" that you are referring to?

They're high school counselors, admission representatives, educational planners, and other industry pros. Some of the experts have expertise in a particular area, like financial aid or students with learning disabilities. Some lists were taken right from professional studies or industry magazines, used with permission (which is noted).

What is a featured college?

We are able to bring you this free service because of the support of the featured colleges and sponsors that you'll see on the site. You can get recruited by them and receive information from the ones you choose, again for free, as we work with them on this and other initiatives.

Tell me about your polls.

The polls are for you to voice your opinions. By telling us what you think, we'll create new lists for all users to view. We have to admit that we don't know everything, so we need you to tell us what you think!

What can I expect when I come back to the site?

Keep checking back because we plan to add a scholarship search tool, forums, video content, a build your personal profile feature, and many more lists.

So now you're ready! Find out which schools have the best athletics, who has the most interesting mascot, and which colleges have a great radio station. Start clicking around to get the answers and see how your college (or future college) stacks up.
