Alloy Education $10,000 Scholarship
Applicant must be entering college for the first time and be accepted as a full-time freshman for the fall term. All students who use one of the two response options described in Careers and Colleges magazine or one of the three response options described in Private Colleges & Universities magazines (website registration is one of the options for both) and meet the requirements are eligible. The scholarship drawing will be held in May of each year, and the check will be issued to the institution at which the winner will enroll. NTA Connecticut Undergraduate Scholarship
Applicant must be a permanent resident of Connecticut who is enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university in the state of Connecticut with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Applicant must be a student entering their junior or senior year of undergraduate study in the fall of the calendar year of application. Student must be enrolled in a tourism-specific program or area of focus, or a hospitality program with a focus on travel and tourism. A minimum of 60 credit hours must be completed by May in order to be eligible. Application, scanned copy of driver's license (or passport) as proof of permanent residency, resume, two letters of recommendation (from academic and professional tourism-related individuals), official transcript, and a scanned two-page original essay are required to be submitted. Required essay question: “Discuss what segment of the travel and tourism or hospitality industry your current program of study focuses on. What opportunities are you taking advantage of as you prepare for a career in the industry? Please tell us about your academic and extracurricular activities and experiences, i.e. work, internships, etc., and how they tie into your present and future goals." Applicant must be a high school seniors. Primary selection criteria are academic achievement and low-income status. Specific income thresholds are not used, but various factors are considered, including total family income, family size, and extenuating circumstances. Historically, most award recipients have come from households earning under $60,000 per year.
