Matching Scholarships for Whitman College

Achievement Scholarship
Achievement scholarships are awarded to approximately a third of admitted students who have excelled academically and bring a level of leadership and co-curricular involvement that will have a significant impact at the college. Applicant must have a minimum 3.8 GPA or a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1310 (ACT equivalent of 28). Selection is based upon academic credentials.

Alloy Education $10,000 Scholarship
Applicant must be entering college for the first time and be accepted as a full-time freshman for the fall term. All students who use one of the two response options described in Careers and Colleges magazine or one of the three response options described in Private Colleges & Universities magazines (website registration is one of the options for both) and meet the requirements are eligible. The scholarship drawing will be held in May of each year, and the check will be issued to the institution at which the winner will enroll. The scholarship will be honored only at participating colleges and universities. A list of eligible colleges/universities is available at careersandcolleges.com. You do not need to complete an application for this scholarship.

Applicant must be an Oregon resident, a graduate of a Douglas County high school, be enrolled full time at a California, Idaho, Oregon, or Washington school, and demonstrate financial need.

Nellie Martin Carman Scholarship
Applicant must be nominated by his/her high school to become a candidate for this scholarship. Applicant must be attending a public high school in the county of King, Pierce or Snohomish in the state of Washington, be a U.S. citizen, and be planning to attend college in the state of Washington. Applicants majoring in music, sculpture art, interior decorating, and domestic science are not eligible. Selection based on financial need, academic record, college test scores, school and community activity.

Private Colleges & Universities Community Service Scholarship For Multicultural Students
Applications are welcome from all eligible candidates. Application and essay about their community service involvement are required; the essay should not exceed 1,200 words. Transcript, and recommendations that will verify involvement in the community (other than family members) must also be submitted. Private Colleges & Universities magazine has established a scholarship administered by the Private Colleges & Universities Scholarship Foundation to help capable multicultural students finance their education at a private college or university.

Russ Griffith Memorial Scholarship
Applicant must be currently attending an eligible Datatel client institution who has returned to school after an absence of five years or longer. Awarded to full or part-time, undergraduate and graduate students. Personal statement essay is also required that discusses the impact of being a returning student.

Applicant must be a junior or senior student enrolled at a participating institution. Community service must be demonstrated.

Applicant must be a Washington state resident with low family income, planning to attend an eligible Washington state institution. Students are designated for the grant by their school's financial aid office.

Applicant must be a a Washington resident and demonstrate financial need. In addition, applicant must be under place-bound circumstances (personal barriers such as family or employment commitments, health concerns, financial inability, or other similar factors that make it difficult to continue education at an eligible college).
