Aquinas College Rankings & Scholarships

Selection is based upon academic achievement and leadership.

Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and an Associate's Degree.

Applicant must be entering college for the first time and be accepted as a full-time freshman for the fall term. All students who use one of the two response options described in Careers and Colleges magazine or one of the three response options described in Private Colleges & Universities magazines (website registration is one of the options for both) and meet the requirements are eligible. The scholarship drawing will be held in May of each year, and the check will be issued to the institution at which the winner will enroll. The scholarship will be honored only at participating colleges and universities. A list of eligible colleges/universities is available at careersandcolleges.com. You do not need to complete an application for this scholarship.

Barbara Hoffius Art Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Belden Brick & Supply Architectural and Masonry Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA or a minimum 2.5 undergraduate GPA and his/her parents or grandparents must be associated with architecture, masonry, or homebuilding.

Community College Honors Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 GPA.

Darlene J. Gray Music Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 high school GPA or a minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA and must demonstrate proficiency in music.

Dr. Robert Lee Gill Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Father Philip Hanley Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate social responsibility, volunteerism, and sensitivity to peace and social justice. Awards are made based upon the recommendation of the pastors and/or directors of religious education from the students' parishes.

Fitzgerald Scholarship for Irish Studies

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and must be an applicant to the Aquinas College Semester in Ireland Study Program.

Grand Rapids Foundation Local Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and have been a resident of Kent County, Mich. for at least three years. Selection is based upon academic achievement, extracurricular activities, personal statement, and financial need.

Hy and Greta Berkowitz Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and a physical and/or learning disability.

Jerome C. Byrne Full-Tuition and Room Scholarship

Awarded to the top performer in the annual Spectrum Scholarship Competition. Recipient is automatically admitted into the Insignis Honors Program.

John E. Veneklasen Full Tuition Scholarship

Applicant must attend an on-campus competition and be one of the top five performers. Recipient is automatically admitted into the Insignis Honors Program.

Joseph L. and Mary E. Hansknecht Social Justice Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate commitment to social justice.

Louis M. Dexter Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and reside in West Michigan.

Medical Career Scholarship

Applicant must be a resident of Michigan who ranks in the top quarter of their graduating class, is planning to attend a Michigan school, and who is the child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of an American Legion member or of someone eligible to be a member. Selection is based upon academic ability, financial need, degree of interest in the area of study, and three letters of recommendation. healthcare, medicine

Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a woman between the ages of 16 and 21 who is a Michigan resident attending or planning to attend a Michigan school and who is the daughter, granddaughter, or great-granddaughter of an American Legion Member or of someone who is eligible for American Legion membership. Selection is based upon transcripts, letters of recommendation, and financial need.

Michigan Competitve Scholarship

Applicant must file the FAFSA and score a 23 on the ACT. Award is based on financial need and merit. Tuition and fees only.

Michigan Tuition Grant

Applicant must be a student at an independent non-profit degree-granting college or university in Michigan. Award is based upon financial need.

Monsignor Bukowski Honor Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum "B+" average and excellent SAT or ACT scores.

NTA Michigan Undergraduate Scholarship

Applicant must be a permanent resident of Michigan who is entering their second year of a two-year school, or junior or senior year of undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university in the state of Michigan. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and be enrolled as a full- or part-time student in a tourism-specific program or area of focus, or a hospitality program with a focus on travel and tourism. A minimum of 30 credit hours must be completed for a two-year school; 60 credit hours for a four-year school by May in order to be eligible. Application, scanned copy of driver's license (or passport) as proof of permanent residency, resume, two letters of recommendation (from academic and professional tourism-related individuals), official transcript, and a scanned two-page original essay are required to be submitted. Required essay question: �Discuss what segment of the travel and tourism or hospitality industry your current program of study focuses on. What opportunities are you taking advantage of as you prepare for a career in the industry? Please tell us about your academic and extracurricular activities and experiences, i.e. work, internships, etc., and how they tie into your present and future goals." Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Applicant must be an active Phi Theta Kappa member.

Presidential Leadership Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate leadership at school and in the community.

Private Colleges & Universities Community Service Scholarship For Multicultural Students

Applications are welcome from all eligible candidates. Application and essay about their community service involvement are required; the essay should not exceed 1,200 words. Transcript, and recommendations that will verify involvement in the community (other than family members) must also be submitted. Private Colleges & Universities magazine has established a scholarship administered by the Private Colleges & Universities Scholarship Foundation to help capable multicultural students finance their education at a private college or university.

R. Kelly Goodwillie Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

R. Paul Nelson Full Tuition Scholarship

Selection is based upon GPA and SAT or ACT scores.

Russ Griffith Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be currently attending an eligible Datatel client institution who has returned to school after an absence of five years or longer. Awarded to full or part-time, undergraduate and graduate students. Personal statement essay is also required that discusses the impact of being a returning student.

Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students

Applicant must be a Michigan resident who is the dependent of a veteran. Applicant must be a non-traditional student returning to higher education after an interruption, a degree-seeking student over age 22 attending college in Michigan for the first time, or a student over age 22 attending a Michigan vocational or trade school. Selection is based upon academic ability, character/leadership, initiative, and financial need. Transcripts or work history required.

St. Anselm Scholarship

Applicant must place between sixteenth and thirtieth in the competition.

St. Catherine Scholarship

Applicant must place between sixth and fifteenth in the Spectrum Scholarship Competition.

St. Dominic Scholarship

Applicant must have a strong academic record and demonstrate leadership.

St. Thomas Aquinas Scholarship

Selection is based upon grades, test scores, leadership, and potential for success.

Transfer Student Scholarship

Young Survivor Scholarship Program

Applicant must be a United States citizen and a legal resident of Indiana or Michigan who is 20 years old or younger and is a cancer survivor. Applicant must attend, or be planning to attend an accredited college, university, or trade/technical school in either of those two states and be able to maintain full-time status carrying 12 or more credit hours per semester.
